Accessibility
Teachers use DNS Angel mid-lesson, often on a phone, and school staff have every kind of need. We design the website and the app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we've done
- Everything works with a keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible.
- Text and controls meet AA contrast, and body text is never smaller than 14 pixels.
- Status is always written in words, never shown by colour alone.
- Teacher controls are at least 44 pixels tall, for thumbs at the front of a room.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, animations stop and the words carry the state.
- The moving example on the home page doesn't start by itself when reduced motion is on, and it has a pause button. Its record is plain text for screen readers.
What we know isn't perfect yet
DNS Angel hasn't had an independent accessibility audit yet. We test with keyboards, screen readers and zoom as we build, and we'll publish what an audit finds.
